Experience "Beekeeping in the Sierra de Guara".

Dates of the activity: March 1st to June 30th From September 1st to October 31st In this experience you will be in Bierge (Huesca), and you will stay in the standard double room of the Hotel Hostería de Guara, a charming hotel located in a small village in the pre-pyrenees of Huesca, starting point to the Natural Park of the Sierra and Canyons of Guara. Description of the activity: Field day in which we will explain and we will see live the life of the bees, we will observe the bees, how they work and their habitat in the Sierra de Guara. We will talk about the importance of preserving the autochthonous bee and its mportance in nature and the balance of the ecosystem. We will see the inside of the beehive, its organisation and the work they do. We will identify the worker bees and their functions, the drones and the queen. We will also see the honeycombs and cells where they store honey, pollen, royal jelly and where the queen bee lays her eggs. We will tell you about hatching, growth and development of the bees. We will talk about the different diseases they face and the importance of using less aggressive and more sustainable products in agriculture for their conservation and survival. We will learn about the tools and machinery we use in beekeeping and extraction of honey.
